Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: What makes the Federal Hydra-Shok Deep .380 ACP ammunition unique for self-defense?

A: The Federal Hydra-Shok Deep .380 ACP ammunition is designed specifically for optimal performance in self-defense situations. It features a robust center post and core design that penetrates to ideal depths through common barriers encountered in self-defense scenarios. This 99-grain hollow point bullet is the first expanding .380 Auto to consistently penetrate beyond the FBI-recommended 12-inch minimum in bare gel and through heavy clothing.

Q: What is the expected accuracy of this ammunition?

A: Federal is known for producing highly accurate ammunition. While primarily designed for self-defense at close ranges, this load should offer good accuracy within typical personal defense distances, generally under 25 yards.

Q: How does the muzzle flash compare to other .380 Auto loads?

A: Federal has optimized this load to minimize muzzle flash, which is particularly important for low-light defensive situations. However, the perceived muzzle flash can vary depending on the specific firearm used.

Q: Is this ammunition suitable for all .380 ACP handguns?

A: While this ammunition is designed for use in .380 ACP handguns, it's always recommended to consult your firearm's manual for specific ammunition recommendations. The Hydra-Shok Deep is particularly well-suited for compact and subcompact .380 ACP pistols commonly used for concealed carry and self-defense.

Q: How does this ammunition perform through heavy clothing?

A: The Hydra-Shok Deep is specifically designed to perform well through heavy clothing barriers. Its unique bullet design helps ensure reliable expansion even after passing through thick fabrics.

Q: Can this ammunition be used for target practice?

A: While the Federal Hydra-Shok Deep .380 ACP can be used for target practice, it's primarily designed and priced as a premium self-defense round. For regular target practice or training, it's more cost-effective to use standard full metal jacket (FMJ) ammunition and reserve this specialty ammunition for self-defense purposes or occasional function testing in your carry firearm.
