Webley & Scott's India division has recently announced the addition of a new pistol to their lineup - the Royal chambered in .32 ACP. This latest offering features a metal frame complemented by polymer grips in a double-action/single-action (DA/SA) configuration. The Royal has been specifically designed as a concealed carry weapon (CCW), expanding Webley's semi-automatic pistol collection which already includes the .45 ACP Bull and Hawk models, alongside the existing .32 ACP Fox model that the Royal will now join.
The company describes the new pistol in glowing terms: "Royal by name and Royal in finish and presentation, the Webley Royal is a true piece of art. Combining innovation in design and production techniques, the new model is a true reflection of our rich history in firearms manufacturing and design."
They further emphasize its versatility: "From its beautiful design to its proven functionality, the Webley Royal will suit whatever your demands. So whether you are looking for a firearm that is compact for conceal carry or a first time firearm owner, the Webley Royal promises exceed all your expectations."
Production of the Royal pistol will be handled through a partnership between Webley and Sial Manufacturers Pvt. LTC., with manufacturing taking place in Sandila, Uttar Pradesh - a location less than 100 miles from Nepal's southwestern border. This partnership reflects the unique firearms market in India, where gun control laws are among the world's most restrictive. Indian citizens face lengthy processes for obtaining gun licenses, sometimes waiting months or even years for approval, making civilian firearm ownership both possible but heavily regulated and uncommon. Concealed carry permits are even more scarce.
Despite these restrictions, Indian law does allow firearms ownership beyond just security and law enforcement purposes, including self-defense and sport shooting. However, regulations typically limit civilians to "low-power" handguns, which explains the popularity of the .32 ACP cartridge in the Indian market.
At the time of announcement, pricing information for the Royal pistol and any spare magazines has not yet been disclosed.
