TISAS USA proudly announces the introduction of its new PX 5.7 Optic Ready (OR) pistol, expanding the company's handgun lineup to include the increasingly popular 5.7x28mm cartridge. This new offering joins models from FN America, Ruger, Smith & Wesson, and Palmetto State Armory in the growing 5.7x28mm market segment.

Best known for their economical M1911 pattern pistols that deliver exceptional value, TISAS USA continues this tradition with the PX 5.7 series. The standard model carries an MSRP of $459.99, while the optics-ready version is available at $499.99, positioning these firearms as among the most affordable options in the 5.7x28mm category. Additional 20-round magazines are available at $29.95.

The TISAS USA PX 5.7 OR comes packaged in a foam-lined plastic hard case, complete with the pistol, user manual, two cleaning brushes, safety lock, and a spare 20-round magazine. Despite accommodating the long 5.7x28mm cartridge, the polymer-framed pistol features a well-designed grip that provides excellent ergonomics without feeling excessively large or unwieldy.

The PX 5.7 OR measures approximately 8.5 inches in overall length with a slide width of approximately 1.1 inches. Standing approximately 5.5 inches tall and weighing just 24 ounces, the pistol combines a substantial profile with manageable weight. The textured polymer frame includes an undercut, squared-off trigger guard for improved comfort and a 1913-style accessory rail on the dustcover for mounting lights, lasers, or other accessories.

The black Tennifer-finished steel slide features front and rear grasping serrations and is machined to accept RMRsc pattern optics. A 4.8-inch forged barrel with button rifling sits inside the slide, featuring a 1:9" right-hand twist with eight grooves. A captured steel recoil spring with full-length guide rod completes the assembly, and a loaded chamber indicator allows for visual verification of chamber status.

As a striker-fired design, the PX 5.7 OR offers a clean-breaking trigger with approximately 4.5 pounds of pull weight. While reset is distinct but somewhat long, overall trigger quality is impressive for this price point. A blade-in-trigger safety system similar to Glock's design provides additional security.

The control layout includes ambidextrous slide catch levers positioned for easy access without requiring grip adjustments. A conventionally placed push-button magazine release, reversible for left-handed shooters, allows for clean magazine ejection. The steel magazines feature polymer base-plates and followers in a double-column design with two-position feeding, providing 20 rounds of capacity with witness holes indicating 5, 10, 15, and 20 rounds.

Sight options include a green fiber optic front sight for rapid acquisition paired with a windage-adjustable, serrated rear sight featuring a square notch. The sight system provides excellent visibility, particularly in bright conditions. The PX 5.7 accepts standard Glock pattern sights, offering extensive aftermarket customization options.

Unlike typical center-fire service pistols, the PX 5.7 utilizes a delayed blowback operating system rather than a Browning-based tilting barrel design. In this system, the barrel and slide are initially held together by recoil spring tension, with the barrel recoiling a short distance with the slide after firing. This mechanism keeps the slide and barrel together until pressure levels drop sufficiently for safe extraction and operation.

Performance testing with multiple ammunition types demonstrated reliable function across various loads. Testing included FN 197SR 40-grain V-MAX, American Eagle 40-grain FMJ, Fiocchi 40-grain FMJ, Fiocchi 40-grain Tipped Hollow Point, and Fiocchi 62-grain Subsonic loads. All functioned flawlessly through the pistol.

Accuracy testing at 25 yards yielded impressive results:

  • American Eagle 40-grain FMJ: 3.2-inch groups at 1,679 fps
  • FN 197SR: 3.0-inch groups at 1,764 fps
  • Fiocchi 40-grain Tipped HP: 2.8-inch groups at 1,750 fps
  • Fiocchi 40-grain FMJ: 3.5-inch groups at 1,705 fps
  • Fiocchi 62-grain Subsonic: 3.0-inch groups at 1,036 fps

The TISAS USA PX 5.7 OR demonstrated excellent handling characteristics during practical shooting drills from 3 to 15 yards. The mild recoil, quick sight acquisition, and accessible controls contributed to a positive shooting experience. Steel target engagement at 25 and 50 yards proved manageable, though point of impact variations were noted between different ammunition types, particularly with the subsonic load.
