Smith & Wesson Expands M&P FPC Line with New 10mm Option

Author: Nick Miles | Publish Date: Mar 26, 2025

Smith & Wesson has officially launched the highly anticipated M&P FPC in 10mm caliber, adding to their existing lineup that previously featured only 9mm and .40 S&W options. This release confirms the speculation that has been circulating within the firearms community for months. The new 10mm variant delivers enhanced muzzle energy and terminal ballistic performance thanks to its 16.25-inch barrel with 9/16x24 threading, while maintaining the convenient folding design that allows it to be easily stored in a compact backpack.

Although the 10mm model retains much of the core design philosophy of its predecessors, Smith & Wesson has introduced several notable upgrades. The M&P FPC 10mm comes standard with a full-size grip module, a logical choice since it utilizes the same 15-round magazines as the M&P 2.0 10mm handgun, which is exclusively available in the full-size configuration.

The overall length when deployed has been slightly increased from 30.4 inches to 30.6 inches to accommodate the larger receiver, resulting in a marginally longer length of pull. To manage the additional recoil generated by the powerful 10mm cartridge, Smith & Wesson has incorporated a sophisticated tungsten-infused two-stage recoil system featuring primary and secondary springs along with a polyurethane bushing. According to the manufacturer, this recoil mitigation system allows the 10mm version to offer a shooting experience remarkably similar to the 9mm model.

The charging handle has been reinforced with an improved hinged latch mechanism that provides secure lockup until deliberately activated. Both the slide lock and magazine release have received modest extensions, enhancing ergonomics by reducing the need to shift hand position during operation.

The remaining features align with the established M&P FPC platform: the reliable blowback operating system, cross-bolt safety, optics-ready handguard with M-LOK slots and top Picatinny rail, and the secure folding mechanism that accommodates most top-mounted optics without interference. Additional features include the responsive flat-face trigger with customizable palmswell inserts, convenient in-stock storage for two magazines, and the ability to fold down to a compact 16 inches.

Each M&P FPC 10mm ships with three 15-round M&P M2.0 magazines and a purpose-designed carrying bag featuring multiple compartments for organized storage of components and accessories. A compliant version is available with three 10-round magazines instead. The manufacturer's suggested retail price is $699.
