At SHOT Show 2026, Mossberg arrived with a wide range of new shotguns spanning hunting, budget-friendly entry options, and tactical platforms. From a retro-inspired 940 Pro Waterfowl to the new 990 semi-auto series and magazine-fed 590RM tactical shotguns, Mossberg’s booth showcased something for nearly every shotgun enthusiast.
940 Pro Waterfowl in Realtree Legacy
Leading off the lineup is the 940 Pro Series Waterfowl, now offered in the nostalgic Realtree Legacy camo pattern. The retro camo design brings a classic look back to modern waterfowl hunting rifles.

Key features include:
-
Adjustable stock
-
Oversized controls
-
Enlarged loading port
-
U.S.-made choke tubes
Despite its feature-rich design, Mossberg expects this shotgun to retail for under $1,000, making it a high-performance waterfowl gun that remains accessible to many hunters. The model is shipping now, just in time for upcoming hunting seasons.
Maverick SA 12-Gauge: Budget-Friendly Semi-Auto

For shooters looking for a more affordable entry point, Mossberg introduced the Maverick SA 12-gauge.
Highlights include:
-
Walnut stock and forend option (also available in black synthetic)
-
Adjustable length-of-pull spacer system shared with the 940 platform
-
Semi-automatic operation
The spacer system allows shooters to adjust the stock for proper fit right out of the box—something typically reserved for more expensive shotguns.
590RM Short Barrel Tactical Shotgun
On the tactical side, Mossberg showcased the 590RM short barrel shotgun, part of the magazine-fed 590RM platform.

Key specifications:
-
11.5-inch barrel
-
Chisel folding stock
-
AR-style grip and buffer tube compatibility
-
Magpul MOE+ grip
-
Threaded for choke tubes (suppressor compatible)
The shotgun ships with a 10-round magazine, with 15- and 20-round magazines available. Mossberg expects these to begin shipping in February, with street pricing around $1,300.
590RM 18.5-Inch Version
For shooters who prefer a longer barrel without NFA considerations, Mossberg also displayed the 18.5-inch 590RM version.
Features include:
-
Folding stock from Chisel Machining
-
Front and rear folding sights
-
M-LOK slots for accessories
-
QD sling mounting point
This version is already shipping and will also retail around $1,300.
Introducing the Mossberg 990
Another major launch is the Mossberg 990 semi-automatic shotgun.
This new platform builds on the success of the 940 but moves the gas system into the forend assembly, allowing more flexibility with stock designs.
Key features:
-
Semi-automatic operation
-
Oversized controls and loading port
-
M-LOK slots at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock
-
Choke tube compatibility for suppressor mounting
The 990 is retails around $1,300, with shipments that started in February.
990 Aftershock SPX
Mossberg also introduced the 990 Aftershock SPX, a compact, bird’s-head-grip firearm built on the same platform.

Highlights include:
-
14-inch barrel
-
Bird’s-head grip configuration
-
Oversized controls and loading port
Because it is not designed to be fired from the shoulder, the Aftershock SPX is classified as a firearm rather than a shotgun, allowing the shorter barrel configuration without traditional NFA restrictions.
Final Thoughts
Mossberg’s SHOT Show 2026 lineup highlights the brand’s strategy of covering every major segment of the shotgun market—from affordable hunting guns to advanced semi-autos and tactical magazine-fed platforms.
With the 940 Pro Waterfowl, the new 990 platform, and expanded 590RM tactical options, Mossberg continues to build on its reputation for reliable shotguns that span both sporting and defensive applications.
