Technical Specifications

Barrel and Muzzle

Each Prairie model is equipped with a 20-inch bull barrel featuring spiral fluting for weight reduction and improved heat dissipation. The threaded muzzle allows shooters to easily attach suppressors or muzzle devices to suit their preferences.

Stock and Ergonomics

The synthetic stock comes with a distinctive splatter finish and incorporates a modular design that sets it apart in terms of adjustability. Shooters can customize both comb height and length of pull using different-sized inserts, making it simple to achieve a personalized fit for enhanced comfort and shooting consistency.

Action and Controls

Bolt Design

The rifle utilizes a smooth three-lug bolt with a 70-degree throw, providing ample clearance for mounted optics while maintaining quick cycling capability. The oversized bolt handle features 5/16-24 TPI threading, allowing for straightforward replacement or aftermarket upgrades.

Trigger System

The Prairie series incorporates Ruger's proven Marksman Adjustable trigger, offering user-adjustable pull weight ranging from 3 to 5 pounds, enabling shooters to fine-tune the trigger to their exact preferences.

Physical Dimensions

  • Overall Length: 41.25 inches
  • Weight: 6.8 pounds

Standard Equipment

The Prairie models come equipped with several practical features:

  • Tang-mounted manual safety for convenient operation
  • Pre-installed sling swivel bases
  • Detachable box magazine system

Magazine Capacity

Magazine capacity varies by caliber:

  • .223 Remington and .22 ARC: 10-round magazine included
  • 6.5 Creedmoor and .308 Winchester: 3-round magazine included

Note: The Prairie series does not include iron sights, as it's designed primarily for optic use.

Pricing and Availability

The Ruger American Rifle Generation II Prairie models carry a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $729 across all calibers and include one magazine with each rifle.

This new addition to the American Rifle Generation II family represents Ruger's continued commitment to providing shooters with feature-rich, accurate rifles at an accessible price point.
