POF-USA has unveiled its latest creation, the Light Modular Rifle (LMR) BASE, offering shooters a fresh take on the .308 platform that achieves AR-15-like weight characteristics while delivering full-power performance.

Engineering Meets Innovation
At first glance, the LMR BASE shares familiar AR-platform DNA, featuring a direct gas impingement system complete with a low-profile gas block and anti-tilt buffer tube. The rifle incorporates POF-USA's signature E2 Extraction Chamber technology, ensuring reliable case ejection during operation.
While the platform chambers the powerful .308 Winchester cartridge, POF-USA emphasizes a key distinction in their official statement:
"The LMR BASE rifle incorporates POF-USA's renowned craftsmanship and is designed as a compact, lightweight alternative to traditional AR-10 platforms chambered in .308 Win. With similar dimensions and weight to an AR-15, this new model is not classified as an AR-10 due to its unique design elements."
The rifle showcases several proprietary POF-USA innovations, including their Keylock bolt carrier group and an oversized heat-sink barrel nut designed to enhance thermal management during intensive use. The heart of the system is a 16.5-inch 416R stainless steel barrel, featuring a 1-in-8 twist rate and 5/8x24 threaded muzzle topped with an A2 flash hider.
The platform comes equipped with a mil-spec trigger group, MFT stock, and standard A2 grip. Its 15-inch handguard features M-LOK compatibility for accessory mounting. Construction centers around a 7075-T6 aluminum receiver with Type III Class 2 hard anodized finish. The rifle measures 34 inches with the stock collapsed and achieves a remarkably light 6-pound unloaded weight without optics.
This configuration represents a significant advancement in lightweight .308 platforms, substantially reducing the traditional bulk associated with AR-10 style rifles.
