Palmetto State Armory Announces 300 Blackout Version of Iconic Soviet Arms AKS-74U “Krinkov”

Following extensive customer feedback and market research, PSA continues to expand their lineup with innovative offerings. After making waves at SHOT Show 2024 with several noteworthy introductions, including their anticipated .308 JAKL and STG platforms, they've now set their sights on a new frontier. Building on the success of their February  5.56 release, PSA has engineered a 300 Blackout variant of their Soviet Arms AKS-74U, bringing modern ammunition compatibility to this legendary compact platform.

This latest iteration maintains the essence of the original Soviet-era "Krinkov" while embracing contemporary ballistic technology. The 300 Blackout cartridge proves an inspired choice, offering versatility from high-velocity 110gr loads to whisper-quiet 220gr subsonic options – particularly effective in this weapon's compact format.

The engineering team maintained crucial design elements from the 5.56 model, including the hammer-forged 4.5mm side-folding rear trunnion, integrated sight dust cover, and signature 8.4" barrel crafted from 4150 steel, topped with the distinctive Krink Booster. Users can opt for a brace configuration or pursue the NFA route with a proper stock. The side-folding triangle brace option, mounted via JMAC Customs adapter, provides a classic aesthetic with modern functionality.

Finish options showcase traditional Plum Gloss and Redwood configurations. For modernized setups, JMAC Customs offers their rail system, while SureShot brings their gray MK3 chassis variant to the table.

Perhaps most notable is the innovative gas system design. By implementing an AR-pattern gas block positioned closer to the chamber beneath the handguard, PSA achieved optimal dwell time for reliable cycling across the entire 300 Blackout power spectrum. This engineering solution eliminates the need for adjustable gas settings while maintaining function with both supersonic and subsonic loads.
