Magpul Expands MBUS Pro Line with New Hooded Front Sight Design

At the recent NRA Annual Meetings in Atlanta, Magpul unveiled several additions to their product lineup, with a standout being the new hooded variant of their MBUS Pro front sight. This innovative design represents a departure from their signature winged profile, incorporating a protective shroud that encircles the front sight post.

The hooded configuration offers practical advantages when paired with an MBUS Pro rear sight. Together, they create a diopter-like sight picture that enhances alignment precision and improves overall accuracy. Versatility remains a key feature with the rotatable post that allows users to quickly transition between narrow (.040") and standard (.060") width profiles depending on shooting requirements.

True to the MBUS Pro family heritage, this new sight maintains the premium steel construction with QPQ finishing that users have come to expect from the line. The sight sits at standard height for compatibility with existing setups and securely locks into position whether deployed for use or stowed away.

What makes this variant particularly valuable is the alternative visual reference it provides. While many shooters prefer a minimalist front sight, others benefit from additional structure surrounding the post. This design caters to those who find enhanced sight framing helpful for target acquisition.

The practical benefits extend to maintenance and adjustment as well. The toolless elevation system allows for quick field adjustments without requiring additional equipment. Meanwhile, the profile remains compatible with any standard-height rear sight, ensuring flexibility within existing setups.

Though modern optics have largely replaced iron sights for many shooters, there's enduring value in these fundamental aiming systems. They represent the foundation of marksmanship skills and can deliver surprising accuracy even at extended ranges when properly utilized.

The new hooded MBUS Pro front sight is available at an MSRP of $94.95.
