Introducing the Mauser 25: Revolution in Straight-Pull Rifle Technology

Author: Nick Miles | Publish Date: Mar 18, 2025

Mauser's latest innovation has entered the firearms market with their bold new tagline: "Made for true winners." The Model 25 straight-pull bolt action rifle represents Mauser's entry into a category that has seen tremendous popularity across European hunting grounds. What distinguishes this action type is its streamlined operation—eliminating the traditional up-down bolt movement in favor of a simple backward pull to extract and eject, followed by a forward push to chamber the next round and secure the action.

Advanced Locking Mechanism

The Mauser 25 features a sophisticated locking system unlike many other straight-pull designs. Instead of employing a rotating bolt, this rifle utilizes a dual tilting lug mechanism that emerges from the bolt body to secure the action. Mauser has branded this as the MAUSER-Spread-Lock-250 system, with "250" representing the comprehensive locking surface angle. Notably, the system provides 66mm² of locking surface—exceeding the legendary Mauser 98's locking area by 10%.

Customizable Features

Flexibility defines the Mauser 25's design philosophy. The rifle incorporates the MAUSER "Single-Base-Mount" system that accommodates various scope mounting platforms. Safety is addressed through a practical two-position system, while the trigger offers infinite adjustment capability within a range of 700 to 1700 grams (approximately 1 pound 9 ounces to 3 pounds 12 ounces).

Three Distinct Models

The Mauser 25 lineup currently encompasses three variations:

  • Mauser 25 Pure: Features an ergonomic laminated thumbhole wood stock
  • Mauser 25 Extreme: Equipped with a durable polymer stock construction
  • Mauser 25 Max: Showcases a premium walnut stock for traditional aesthetics

All three variants currently chamber the versatile .308 Winchester cartridge, with Mauser indicating additional caliber options forthcoming. These rifles feed from detachable single-stack polymer magazines available in three or five-round capacities.
