As the world reflects on eight decades since World War II's conclusion, CZ is unveiling a special tribute that honors the courage and sacrifice of Czech airmen who fought alongside Allied forces.

Spitfire-Inspired CZ 75 Marks 80th Anniversary

A Tribute to "Free Czech" Allied Aviators

CZ is commemorating the 80th anniversary of World War II's end with a remarkable limited edition firearm that pays homage to a chapter of history often overlooked in broader war narratives. The special Spitfire-themed CZ 75 celebrates the extraordinary contributions of Czech pilots who served in the British Royal Air Force (RAF) during one of history's most pivotal conflicts.

Honoring Exiled Warriors

When Nazi Germany occupied Czechoslovakia in early 1939, just months before the official outbreak of hostilities, thousands of patriotic Czechs refused to accept defeat. Instead, they made the perilous journey across occupied territories to continue their resistance from abroad.

Approximately 2,500 Czech citizens ultimately found their way into the ranks of Britain's Royal Air Force, where they formed a significant and respected contingent of Allied airpower. Their presence was so substantial that they established and fully staffed three dedicated fighter squadrons:

  • No. 310 (Czechoslovak) Squadron
  • No. 312 (Czechoslovak) Squadron
  • No. 313 (Czechoslovak) Squadron

Beyond these fighter units, Czech airmen also constituted an entire bomber squadron (No. 311) and contributed significantly to a night fighter squadron (No. 68). Many others were integrated directly into British squadrons, fighting alongside their RAF colleagues throughout the war.

Secret Missions and Homeland Connections

Perhaps one of the most poignant aspects of Czech RAF service came through their involvement with No. 138 Special Squadron. This specialized unit conducted clandestine operations dropping agents and supplies into Nazi-occupied territories across Europe—including dangerous missions back to their homeland of Czechoslovakia.

Remarkable Combat Record

From Britain to Normandy: Czech Pilots' Impact

These expatriate airmen, fighting from exile while their homeland remained under occupation, compiled an extraordinary combat record throughout the war. Their contributions include:

  • Over 28,000 fighter sorties flown
  • At least 16 Czech pilots achieving "ace" status in RAF service
  • 2.6 million pounds of bombs dropped on enemy targets
  • Critical participation from the Battle of Britain through D-Day and beyond

Their service came at tremendous cost. Nearly 500 Czech airmen made the ultimate sacrifice, killed in action while fighting for both their homeland's liberation and the broader Allied cause.

Exclusive Commemorative Firearm

Limited Edition CZ 75 RAF Model

To honor this legacy of courage, CZ has created an exclusive collector's piece. Only 56 examples of the CZ 75 RAF model will be produced, making this a truly limited commemoration of these aerial warriors.

The special edition firearm will be offered to the public soon, though specific release details and pricing information remain forthcoming.

This exclusive CZ 75 variant serves as both a functional firearm and a tangible connection to the brave Czech airmen who fought for freedom from the cockpits of RAF aircraft during World War II's darkest hours.
