Century Arms Expands AP5 Lineup with Two New Models for 2025

Century Arms is growing its popular AP5 family with two distinctive additions for 2025: the AP5-SD pistol and the AP5-L rifle. These roller-delayed, blowback firearms continue the tradition of offering affordable MP5-style options manufactured by MKE, a Turkish company officially licensed by HK to produce these designs for Turkey's military forces.

The AP5-SD pistol draws inspiration from the iconic integrally suppressed MP5SD. It features an SD-style handguard coupled with a faux suppressor that creates the distinctive SD silhouette. Beneath the handguard sits a 5.75" cold-hammer-forged barrel equipped with both a tri-lug adapter and 1/2x28 TPI muzzle threading, allowing for accessory attachment when the faux suppressor is removed.

The handguard's 1.5" interior diameter accommodates many commercially available 9mm suppressors, enabling users to maintain both a compact profile and the signature SD aesthetic when using actual suppressors. The firearm is completed with a "Navy-style" polymer trigger housing featuring pictogram markings and ships with two metal 30-round magazines.

Century offers the AP5-SD in two configurations:

• Standard pistol with receiver end cap and Picatinny rail ($1,700 MSRP)
• Enhanced version with Magpul BSL pistol stabilizing brace ($1,800 MSRP)

The AP5-L addresses the challenge of creating a non-NFA rifle version of the MP5 platform, which requires a minimum 16" barrel length. Century's innovative approach to this requirement results in a 16.5" cold hammer-forged barrel that preserves authentic aesthetics while ensuring legal compliance.

The barrel features the traditional tri-lug arrangement and threaded muzzle but can be covered with the included Aklys Defense faux suppressor. This clever design makes the rifle appear like a standard MP5 with a traditional-length barrel and attached suppressor.

As a rifle, the AP5-L must incorporate a specific number of U.S.-made components. Century has partnered with Magpul to supply:

• SL handguard with M-Lok slots
• SL grip module with Magpul's ESK extended bilateral safety lever
• Telescoping SL stock

The rifle also comes with an Overwatch Precision MOD-2 32-round polymer magazine. The Century AP5-L carries an MSRP of $1,900.

Both new models feature classic MP5-style iron sights complemented by an M1913 Picatinny claw mount that can be attached to the receiver for mounting optical sights.
