Aero Precision Unveils New Rimfire Suppressor: The Tephra-22

Author: Nick Miles | Publish Date: Oct 04, 2024

Aero Precision is expanding its suppressor lineup with the introduction of the Tephra-22, a versatile sound suppressor designed to accommodate cartridges from .22LR up to 5.7x28. This new offering aims to deliver exceptional noise reduction for both recreational shooters and varmint hunters, combining serviceability with rugged construction.

Engineering and Design

At the heart of the Tephra-22 lies an impressive seven-baffle configuration, precision-crafted from 17-4 stainless steel. This robust core ensures reliable performance even when managing the increased pressures of 5.7x28 rounds. The choice of stainless steel for the baffle stack offers practical advantages beyond durability - owners can maintain their suppressors using aggressive cleaning solutions or ultrasonic cleaning methods without concern. The tool-free design enables quick disassembly for routine maintenance, providing straightforward access to all internal components.

The suppressor housing, which carries the serial number, features a black nitride-treated stainless steel construction and standard 1/2x28 threading. To optimize weight without compromising functionality, Aero engineered the end cap and outer sleeve from aluminum, achieving a remarkably light 7.2-ounce total weight. These aluminum components come in two finish options: classic black or distinctive Kodiak brown anodizing.

Market Release and Special Offer

With pre-orders now open and shipments scheduled for late November, the Tephra-22 enters the market at a competitive $375 MSRP. Aero Precision sweetens the deal with a time-sensitive promotional bundle, allowing customers to pair their Tephra-22 with selections from the Lahar suppressor series, Magpul DAKA Pouches, and a Condition 1 protective case. The Lahar suppressors complement the Tephra-22 by handling larger calibers from 5.56x45 NATO through 300 Winchester Magnum, featuring full-auto capability and unrestricted barrel length compatibility.
