New Republic Ammo History
MFS, originally known as Mátravidéki Fémművek Sirok, was established in 1952 in Sirok, Hungary, with a primary focus on supplying ammunition to the Hungarian military and law enforcement during the Cold War era. This initial phase benefited from substantial investments, enabling the development and production of new ammunition types. By the late 1950s, MFS expanded its market reach to include sporting and hunting ammunition, represented by the acronym MFS.
The MFS brand gained significant global presence, exporting products to over 70 countries. In 2009, a significant transformation occurred when MFS was acquired by the RUAG Ammotec Group, known for premium brands like Geco, Norma, and RWS. This acquisition marked a major milestone as MFS integrated advanced German and Swiss systems, adopting top-notch technologies and processes to enhance pistol and revolver ammunition production.
Adhering to stringent quality standards, MFS maintains certifications in ISO 9001 and AQAP, ensuring consistent product quality and safety. The company's research and development unit stays aligned with market trends, introducing new products annually, including the highly accurate MFS pistol and revolver ammunition family.
In a strategic move to bolster its defense and law enforcement sector, RUAG Ammotec reintroduced the MFS brand as a key player in its expansion plans, focusing on NATO standard ammunition. The most recent change in ownership occurred on August 1, 2022, when Beretta Holding acquired the Ammotec Group, including MFS, from RUAG. Based in Luxembourg, Beretta Holding manages several renowned brands such as Beretta and Benelli.
Today, MFS operates as MFS Defense Inc. and remains a proud member of the Beretta Holding Group, continuing its legacy of providing high-quality, reliable ammunition for defense, law enforcement, and sporting purposes worldwide.
