    Converted my expensive-glass snob friends

Posted by Derek Washington on Mar 10, 2025

I'm that guy in my hunting group who refuses to spend a fortune on gear, and let me tell you - these BX-2 Alpines have made me look like a genius! My buddies all rock binos costing 2-3 times as much, and they were straight-up shocked when they looked through mine. The HD glass is the real deal - clarity, brightness, and color are all fantastic. No, they're not quite as good as $1500 European glass, but they're surprisingly close for a fraction of the price. The image is sharp edge-to-edge with very little distortion. What impressed me and my friends most was the low light performance. I can glass effectively well into dusk, picking out deer when light is fading fast. For whitetail hunting in timber, they're absolutely perfect. Durability has been excellent too - these things have been dropped, rained on, and generally abused for two seasons now without any issues. The focus adjustment is smooth and precise, and the rubber armor provides excellent grip in all conditions. If you're a serious hunter on a budget, or just someone who can't justify dropping a mortgage payment on binoculars, these are an absolute no-brainer. 90% of the performance of premium glass at 30% of the price. Best value in hunting optics, period!

    Mid-priced miracle glass!

Posted by Scott Peterson on Mar 10, 2025

Just wrapped up my second season with the BX-2 Alpines and I'm still blown away by how good these are for the money! After using cheap $100 binos for years, these feel like cheating. The HD glass makes a HUGE difference - everything is brighter, sharper, and has way better color contrast. Used them in all sorts of conditions - rainy mornings, foggy days, bright sun - and they perform great in everything. The low light performance is what really impresses me. I'm getting at least 15 extra minutes of good glassing at dawn and dusk compared to my old pair, which is exactly when deer are most active! The 10x42 config is perfect for whitetail hunting - enough power to pick out details at distance but not so much magnification that they're shaky. They're light enough to carry all day without neck strain but still feel solid and durable. Dropped them once from my treestand (mini heart attack!) and they survived without a scratch. Focus wheel is smooth and easy to adjust with gloves on. For mid-range binos, these punch WAY above their weight class. Best hunting gear upgrade I've made in years!
