Because of the technology that allows it to expand on impact, and the heavier weight for maximum penetration, Hornady’s Critical Defense Rimfire Ammo is excellent for self-defense. This round also uses low-flash propellants, which helps to preserve night vision.

Nickel-plated casings are often used by law enforcement or for self-defense rounds. They feed easier, are less corrosive, more visible in the dark, and are slicker. You can reload nickel casings, although sometimes they will crack.
